This contents within the
Classic Rock magazine will attract a primary target audience who are
white, middle class and straight male, these people would fall under
the social class of C-F. The main star vehicle on this page is Ozzy
Osbourne who is from the rock band Black Sabbath and would attract
many people who are fans of his rock music. I will now analyse this
star model to see if it suitable for the target audience that fall
under a variety of theorists.
In terms of mise-en-sense
the picture of the image contains the rock star vehicle named Ozzy
Osbourne, tattooing a new tattoo upon his arm, which could connote
how rebellious he is. This is suitable for the target audience who
fall under the theorist of Stanley Hall (1904) “Criminal
activity would increase at the ages of 12 and 24, common mood in
teenagers was depressed.”
The
typography used upon the page is very simple and contains all the
information that is contained within this magazine issue, this is
very useful for the reader because they could skip to the part of the
magazine their most interested in. This would be suitable for the
target audience who fall under the theorist of Blumer and Katz
(1974.) “Audience members might consume a media text, diversion
(escape from everyday problems), personal relationships, personal
identity...Surveillance.” The two main purposes people will want to
view this image is for personal identity; looking up to their role
model and diversion to relate to what the star vehicle is going
through.
The
main colour themes for the contents page of Classic Rock is black and
red, which is suitable for the target audience as this could connote
depression and anger. Therefore this would support the theorist
Stanley Hall (1904) who states in short “Criminal activity would
increase at the ages of 12 and 24, common mood in teenagers was
depressed.”
Also
in terms of colour this image contains a lot of vibrant colours, like
for example Ozzy Osbournes skin and the page colour itself. It shows
that this page contains a lot of life and excitement for the audience
as you see the star vehicle Ozzy Osbourne has his mouth and eyes wide
open, this magazine issue is all about him Therefore this supports
the target audience who fall under the Blumer and Katz theory (1974)
“Audience members might consume a media text, diversion (escape
from everyday problems), personal relationships, personal
identity...Surveillance.” The two main purposes people will want to
view this image is for personal identity; looking up to their role
model and diversion to relate to what the star vehicle is going
through.
A good piece of analysis here with reference to media theorists and appropriate media language, further demonstrating your research into similar products and target audience
